Where the data comes from.
Every figure in the Index comes from independent research into publicly available information, recorded against the network it describes.
Where the information comes from
Every network in the Index is researched individually from publicly available sources: the network's own website and franchise recruitment pages, company filings, trade directories, industry bodies and public professional profiles. Each profile lists the sources used to build it, so any figure can be traced back and checked.
Nothing is estimated. Where a fact cannot be established from a public source, the Index records No public record available rather than filling the gap with an assumption. That phrase appears often, and it is meant to: many franchise networks do not publish their investment levels, their network size or who runs them.
What each profile holds
Where the information exists publicly, a profile carries the industry, franchise category and sub industry, the year the business was founded and the year it began franchising, approximate network size, investment levels, the franchise model, headquarters location, BFA membership, UK or international origin, and the people who lead the network.
The Five Fibre assessment
Alongside the factual record, every network is assessed against Twine Growth's Five Fibre Framework™: Assess, Build, Launch, Grow and Amplify, each scored out of 20 and combining to a score out of 100. The assessment is based on what can be evidenced publicly at the time of research, and a score is not an endorsement or a recommendation to buy a franchise. The methodology explains it in full.
How current it is
Each profile carries the date it was last researched and the date of its assessment. Franchise information changes, so anything affecting a commercial decision should be confirmed with the network directly.
Corrections
If you represent a network and something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will review it against the evidence. Verified information from a network is labelled as such, and kept distinct from our own independent research.
